Le Finish

I made it!! I set a goal to spin a little each day which I revised to include prepping fiber for spinning too. After work through some of the Lorna's Laces roving I began the Tour with, I started in on some raw, white alpaca. I lightly carded the alpaca using my handcards to make small fluffy batts. It spins like a dream.

By taking on this challenge I learned more about my wheel, learned how to find time in my day to spin, and reconnected with my love of fibery things!

Congrats to all who finished the tour.

I'll post pics of the alpaca as soon as I take some!

Good Fiber Gone Bad

First off plying turn into a nightmare. Partially because I'm still getting used to my wheel and it's quirks. The skein was looking pretty good until I set the twist. Used a hot water bath and POOF the yarn got big and fat. It's not really what I had in mind, but I guess I'll find a way to love it. Still I am on track for finishing Sunday!!

Two Bobbins Full

Compared to some this may seem a merger accomplishment. Considering I have a baby, seven year old, work full time, etc.... I consider two bobbins full a great accomplishment. I'm hoping to start plying later today or tonight. Spots of the roving don't seem to draft as nicely as others, which has presented a challenge to keep my spinning even. Excited to see how my finished yarn turns out.

More progess

I don't have a new picture but am making progress. The colors are amazing in this roving as they spin. I hit the mark of spinning some each so far and am off to my wheel after posting this. Hopefully I can get a bunch done this weekend.

Climbing.....

Picture taken July 6th

Making little progress on the spinning, but still have managed to spin each day since July 5th. Last night the power went out and I was unable to make more progress and post about my progress. The roving spins nicely. I'm not getting it quite as even as I would like but that is largely because I'm still trying to figure out my wheel. My bobbin is about half full now.

Last may I sold my Ashford Kiwi and bought a used Schacht Matchless single treadle.

Tour de Fleece

My challenge is to spin a little each day from my stash. With a five almost six month old spinning time has been nonexsistent I think I'll start with some Lorna's Laces roving I picked up last year on vacation. I bought it from Yarn Expressions in Huntsville, Alabama. It's beautiful and a shame it's just sitting there. I'm thinking about a worsted weight, but it could be something different once I start spinning. Even though I signed up a day late, I did gather it up yesterday!
