Weekender

It was a wonderful weekend round here. Much time was spent with my babies and family. Much time was spent wishing time would slow down. Stop even.

Quinn is likely my last baby. All of me wants her to stay little just a little longer. The thought of her turning into a busy toddler like Eli, makes me just a little sad. One day I know I will look at her and she will no longer be a baby.

I'm incrediably lucky to have Quinn, especially since we thought we were lucky to have Eli. I remind myself that during the tough, crazy moments of the day. Watching my three children growing and caring for each other reminds me of what is important and what is not. My house is cluttered with toys, laundry is constant, but those things can wait while I watch my children blossom.

Days of Summer

This week we have been enjoying a relief from the heat and humidity of the prior week. It's been nice to get outside to walk and play. I'm trying to enjoy my last weeks of maternity leave and not dread the return to work too much. I'm sure we could swing me not working, but things would be tight and I don't want to live paycheck to paycheck. At the same time I want to be with my two youngest as they grow too. It's very conflicting emotionally. Sigh........ I wish there was an easy solution. I am finding comfort in the fact that for now we have found an awesome sitter, who will be great with the kids. I guess that is the 'for now solution' until I figure out what I can do from home or we win the lotto! Just enough for me to pay off all debts and stay home until my kids are all in school!

In knitting news I have been working on the following and making some pretty good progress given I have two kids under two!! My KnitPicks order came today too! The new Toe Up Socks book by Wendy Johnson is wonderful!

Gone Too Long

Dear Blog,

You have have been ignored, I'm sorry. Since I last posted my baby has grow into a toddler and another baby has come into my life. Needless to say this house is busy!

I've also added several knitting projects into my life recently as well. Monkey socks, a pinwheel baby blanket, and chubby bunny toys. I've organized my stash (mostly) an am working on decluttering my house.

I promise not to be gone so long this time. There is much to blog about in my life.

Le Finish

I made it!! I set a goal to spin a little each day which I revised to include prepping fiber for spinning too. After work through some of the Lorna's Laces roving I began the Tour with, I started in on some raw, white alpaca. I lightly carded the alpaca using my handcards to make small fluffy batts. It spins like a dream.

By taking on this challenge I learned more about my wheel, learned how to find time in my day to spin, and reconnected with my love of fibery things!

Congrats to all who finished the tour.

I'll post pics of the alpaca as soon as I take some!

Good Fiber Gone Bad

First off plying turn into a nightmare. Partially because I'm still getting used to my wheel and it's quirks. The skein was looking pretty good until I set the twist. Used a hot water bath and POOF the yarn got big and fat. It's not really what I had in mind, but I guess I'll find a way to love it. Still I am on track for finishing Sunday!!

Two Bobbins Full

Compared to some this may seem a merger accomplishment. Considering I have a baby, seven year old, work full time, etc.... I consider two bobbins full a great accomplishment. I'm hoping to start plying later today or tonight. Spots of the roving don't seem to draft as nicely as others, which has presented a challenge to keep my spinning even. Excited to see how my finished yarn turns out.

More progess

I don't have a new picture but am making progress. The colors are amazing in this roving as they spin. I hit the mark of spinning some each so far and am off to my wheel after posting this. Hopefully I can get a bunch done this weekend.
